The Registration Information section is where the arresting officer enters details about the vehicle registration including:  Plate, Insurance Checked, Plate Type, Plate Year, VIN, Make, Model, Year, Vehicle Type, Color, # of Wheels, and whether the vehicle is Carrying Hazardous Material or a Bus able to carry 16 or More Passengers.

The arresting officer has the ability to enter the license plate number and search the OMV database for the vehicle’s registration information. 

To search the OMV database for a Louisiana registered vehicle’s information:

1. Enter the vehicle’s license Plate #
2. Select the vehicle’s license plate state
3. Click the Search button
4. Review the auto-populated data and make any necessary changes
5. Insurance checked?:  Select Yes if the insurance was checked; otherwise select No
6. Enter any additional registration information for the vehicle
7. Carrying Hazardous Material?:  Select Yes if the vehicle is Carrying Hazardous Material; otherwise select No
8. Bus 16 or more Passengers?:  Select Yes if the vehicle is a Bus able to carry 16 or more Passengers; otherwise select No

 

When no data is available by the OMV database search, the arresting officer has the ability to enter the vehicle’s registration information manually into the arrest case.

To manually enter the vehicle’s registration information:

1. Enter the vehicle’s Plate # and select the plate State
2. Enter the Plate Year (4-digit year)
3. Select the Plate Type
4. Insurance checked?:  Select Yes if the insurance was checked; otherwise select No
5. Enter the VIN (vehicle identification number)
6. Enter the vehicle Make (manufacturer)
7. Enter the vehicle Model
8. Enter the vehicle Year
9. Select the Vehicle Type
10. Select the vehicle Color
11. Select the vehicle's # of Wheels
12. Carrying Hazardous Material?:  Select Yes if the vehicle is Carrying Hazardous Material; otherwise select No
13. Bus 16 or more Passengers?:  Select Yes if the vehicle is a Bus able to carry 16 or more Passengers; otherwise select No

 

To continue with the DWI Arrest draft, the officer can move to the Owner Information section or can click the Save button above the case menu and move to the appropriate page by clicking on a tab in the case menu at the right side of the screen.
