In order to run an investigative query and gain access to the NCIC system, a user must be certified and authorized to perform queries. To comply with the FBI CJIS Security Policy, the LADRIVING system utilizes Advanced Authentication to validate if a user is authorized to process, store or transmit Criminal Justice Information by employing the following two factors: “something you know” (Password) and “something you have” (digital NCIC User Certificate).
Prior to running an investigative query, an Administrator must have generated the authorized user's digital NCIC User Certificate and the user must have created or been provided their 4-digit NCIC PIN #.
During each browsing session the authorized user must download their NCIC User Certificate and verify their PIN #. If the browser window is closed or the LADRIVING session ends, the user must repeat the steps to download their NCIC User Certificate and verify their PIN # again.
